Summer Vacation Nepal

As you may know, because of my travels to the Himalayas, I have a great love for the mountains and people of the region. To give something back, for several years now I have been working with American Himalayan Foundation in support of the “Stop Girl Trafficking” project. I feel passionate about Stop Girl Trafficking and am committed to stopping it.

The program provides scholarship money to Nepali girls for books, uniforms and transportation. While in Nepal recently, Phil and I had an opportunity to visit with several young women who have been receiving scholarships to stay in school and continue their education. We met an amazing group of young ladies who told us how the program has helped change their lives. They were confident, poised, articulate and incredibly grateful for the opportunity to simply go to school. What we saw was a program which works.

“Upwards of 20,000 girls from the poorest parts of Nepal are trafficked every year - sold by their desperate parents or lured by the false promises of traffickers. These girls, sometimes as young as nine, end up in brothels where they become slaves. Many are HIV positive within two years, and are dead before they are out of their teens.
Our approach to combating this modern-day slavery is simple and surprisingly effective: education.” American Himalayan Foundation

Will you join us in our efforts to provide young Nepali Girls at risk with an education and stop the problem at its source. I hope you will join us by simply clicking the link below and making a gift. Your investment can ensure that one less girl is at risk of being trafficked.
